The breviary is the prayer book that contains the prayers and texts of the Liturgy of the Hours, which is prayed five times a day by all priests, bishops, deacons and religious as a canticle of praise to the Lord. Recently, the Vatican announced that it has approved a new English translation of the breviary for liturgical use in the United States and those obliged to pray the Hours have been asked to shift to this new translation.
